The Mallee is Victoria's very own Wild West. The Wimmera Mallee area is regarded as the agricultural heart of Victoria and offers many rural natural attractions. There are many historic buildings and charming townships to discover. With the 'Murray River' being the lifeline for this area there are many water activities, such as water-skiing, swimming, canoeing, fishing or just walking around the banks with tall gums following every turn in this majestic river. The largest and quite sophisticated town in this area is Mildura, offering many of the advantages of the city wrapped up in a picturesque river town. There are many well respected wineries with wine tasting including Lindemans, Trentham Wines and Oak Valley Estate. For the golfer, there are many top rated courses in or close to Mildura. Other towns worth a visit include Merbein, Red Cliffs, Ouyen and Rutherglen.
