Pilbara

The Pilbara Region has world class national parks, including Rudall River and Karijini. These parks are famous for their stunning natural terrain, red gorges, waterholes, and spectacular waterfalls, including the amazing Fortescue Falls. This certainly is a wonderful place to visit. Maybe take a drive to Port Hedland, stopping at Marble Bar, Australia's hottest town. Continue onto Millstream-Chichester National Park and Fortescue River and in winter admire the array of wildflowers. The Pilbara has the world's most prolific Aboriginal rock engraving sites. At Dampier enjoy the quiet tranquil beaches with their beautiful coral and colourful fish ideal for snorkeling. At certain times of the year you can see migrating humpback whales or turtles struggling up the beach to lay their eggs.Other coastal towns such as Karratha, Buccaneer Archipelago and Rowley Shoals Islands are also wonderful places to swim, snorkel and fish.
